Analysis |
Most rural South Americans are somehow tied to the drug trade. This makes the drug trade an integral part of of rural South America’s economy because of the jobs it provides for the workers. The problem with the drug trade is that it is illegal and the money that it provides does not go to the state, instead it goes to the drug lords. By capturing Valenciano, Venezuela is able to show the drug lords who really holds the power in South America and it also could lead to the United States not having a their DEA in South America if the drug trade is slowed down.
