Analysis |
President Al Assad needs to rethink his situation. He is losing any and all support he had from the rest of the world with the way he is running things, and virtually everybody is calling for his removal. His situation became even more precarious when part of the army split off and turned against him. Even though a recent sanction did not pass in the UN security council, it may not be long before the outside powers leave economic santions behind and choose to intervene with force, like what happened in Libya. With pressure mounting inn the form of rebels soldiers and growing numbers of protestors, it will be interesting to see if Al Assad tries to get out while he can, or conitues down his current path of trying to crush the protest.
