On November 6, Otto Perez Molina won Guatemala’s presidential election. His opponent Manuel Baldizon lost by 10 points. Molina has made promises to the country, such as a providing better income by giving workers an extra month’s salary a year, and reinstating the death penalty and television executions. Twenty-five years later, Molina would be the first former military leader elected president.

Perez Molina will help the country progress. He is planning on reducing the crime rate in the country; his campaign focused on fighting the street gangs and drug cartels. Molina is also focusing on helping the country’s economy. He plans to expand the police and army and build a new high-security prison. The ideas he has planned for the country seems like it will benefit the country. This presidential election could drastically change the country for the better.
