Damascus dismay

Summary |
At least nine Syrians that were protesting in the streets of Syria were killed Friday. The Syrians were protesting to denounce a “conspiracy” to bypass demands for major political change they believe is occurring between the Arab League and the Syrian regime in Damascus.

Analysis |
Syria is really hurting itself by letting the bloodshed of its own countrymen occur at the hands of its military, especially after they (Syria) said they were going to remove its forces from areas the protests were happening. By not leaving the protesters in peace, Syria is going to receive pressure from lots of its trading/business partners. Also, if the government continues to show such disregard for its own population, it may lose money from farmers and manufactures that decide to try to sell their products in a less-than-legal way so as to not have to share their profits with an uncaring government. This could technically lead to a large hit to a Syrian economy that, like most of the rest of the world, is already suffering from the recession.
