Title |
Death to Smoochy I mean Gaddafi
| |
Summary |
The ousted dictator of Libya is now dead. Gaddafi was found lying in drainage pipes surrounded by the dead bodies of his body guards. The National Transitional government soldiers found Gaddafi and then dragged him over to a car where he later died of his wounds. Many different versions of how he died are floating around. Some reports say his own body guards shot him in the chest on his way to the car but it is unclear thus far who fatally wounded Gaddafi.

Analysis |
The death of Gaddafi has a profound impact now on how Libya can move forward in the future. Whatever power the ex-dictator had is now completely vanquished and now in the hands of the National Transitional Council. The turnover of power will now be an important test to see if democracy can flourish in the once autocratic state and power can securely and peacefully transition. If Libya is not able to overcome these issues and form a workable government they could very well fall into the same debacle as Egypt.
