Title
Moscow and Beijing Still Feuding Over Gas
Summary
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has recently been in China speaking with Premier Wen Jiabao about agreeing on a price for oil. The feuding sides cannot agree on what prices Russia will set to sell oil and what price China will buy oil from them. This controversy has been occurring for a few years and is slowly getting closer to and near an end as friendly talks between the neighboring states increase.
Analysis
Cooperation between border states has historically been difficult, so Prime Minister Vladimir Putin of Russia has been working alongside Premier Wen Jiabao of China to make a deal of gas referring to Russia selling gas to China. There are still discussions as to what the specific price will be, however relations between the two states have been increasingly positive. The Russia-China Investment Fund is an example of how the two states have been cooperating together on the path to a gas agreement. Prosperity between Russia and China would be helpful to each of those states instead of the previous mutual distrust. Even though there is no concluded price of gas from the many discussions, there is a friendly bond forming between neighboring states and an effort being made to ensure trust.
