After a nuclear plant crisis in Japan in March had become dangerous for citizens around its area, the government of Prime Minister Yoshihiko’s office in Japan declared an evacuation one month later for parts of Japan. The estimated population affected was approximately 59,000. Presently, the municipal government has lifted the advisory evacuation, and they are allowing citizens to return home. Concerned over if radiation levels are still a major factor in the region, many individuals are cautioning return. The parts of Japan covered by this evacuation plan are the entire area of Hirono, portions of Minamisoma, Tamura, Naraha, and Kawauchi.. The municipal government will compensate the power plant owner approximately $53 billion for damages and to decontaminate the zone and improve the well-being of the environment.
