The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has provided superior health and nutrition to the Kobe camp in Ethiopia, thus dropping the mortality rate from 4-5 deaths per 10,000 to 2.1 deaths per 10,000.

Analysis |
Ambassador Hisham Badr went on a visit to Ethiopia and saw children playing and smiling, which is a great improvement from the prior weeks when mortality rates were soaring. Kobe camp had 25,600 refugees in July and faced it’s worse mortality rates of near ten children dying per day. With more refugees arriving into camps, the UNHCR gathers anually to discuss funding and other plans to assist Ethiopia with the improving mortality rates, not only for just camp Kobe, but with other camps filled with refugees.
