Pakistan Responds to Accusations

United States Join Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen made accusations that Pakistan is funding the Haqqani, a group affiliated with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda; Pakistan denies any dealings with Haqqani.

Admiral Mike Mullen’s comments have angered Pakistani officials and military officers. Pakistan may or may not be funding Haqqani, an insurgent force of threat to NATO in Afghanistan, but the statements made along with the recent violations of the nation’s sovereignty in the form of drone attacks and most notably the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden without knowledge or consent of the state of Pakistan could lead to decreased cooperation between Pakistan and the United States on the “war on terror."
