Analysis |
France’s ban on facial veils comes as a limit to religious freedom. The people it affects are French citizens. Islam is the second largest religion in France so it affects many of its citizens. This ban has also lead the way for discrimination in other countries nearby. Italy and the Netherlands have drawn up similar laws while Belgium has already passed legislation. This French ban will not just affect the people of France; it seems to be the starting point for a whole continental ban. Because of the ban numerous verbal abuses towards women who choose to wear the veils have occurred. With the ban, it brings Islamic people down below the rest of society in other people’s eyes. This makes them criminals for their belief.
