Title |
Where does this leave copper?
| |
Summary |
Zambia has just had their presidential elections, and the results came in on Friday the 23rd. The two major canidates were the opposition leader Michael Sata and the past president Rupiah Banda. The race had been neck and neck when Sata finally pulled ahead and won. Sata or “King Cobra” has criticized Chinese labor laws in their mines.

Analysis |
With Sata as president the relations with China are going to change. These changes will affect trade between the two countries. Sata will most likely start to try to change China’s mining labor laws. These changes to mining laws can affect both China’s and Zambia’s copper output leading to changes in the world trade of copper. This can all lead to higher priced copper.
