Analysis |
Over the past few decades many citizens of Turkey have migrated into Germany. The Turkish, though considered an ethnic minority in Germany, make up a large portion of the population of Germany with nearly three million citizens. Being that so many citizens of Germany are from Turkish decent, it is important that the German government has a good relation with the Turkish government. By appearing with President Gül ,Chancellor Angela Merkel has appealed to the Turkish Germans, which would likely benefit her politically. Gül advocated for good relations between Turkey and Germany. Turkish citizens in Turkey, as well as those living in Germany would approve of said relations, being that they likely have ties between the countries. This is also positive publicity for Gül.
