Analysis |
It’s not shocking that Israel and Turkey are still at arms considering the raid on Gaza ports last spring. It’s also crucial that Erdoğan continues to attack the Israeli government, if he wants to keep his popularity in the Middle East intact. However, he is risking his appeal to the majority of Middle Eastern leaders who have become accustomed to corrupt and tyrannical style of government. The sovereignty of Palestine would become the beginning of democracy and stability in the Middle East and end the current norm of repression of the people. Erdoğan seems to be aware of the fact that changing the status quo would profit Turkey once the new government takes full effect.
