Title |
United States and China Work Together
| |
Summary |
The United States and China seem to agree that the most pressing common task of both states is the global financial crisis. US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Qishan co-chaired a high-level of dialogue between the two states. China and the United States agree it is imperative the two states work together to restore market confidence as soon as possible, restrain the crisis from spreading, and avoid a global economic recession.

Analysis |
The communication and cooperation between China and the United States is beneficial in that the two states are becoming increasingly interdependent. The Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Qishan called on the United States to go all-out to stabilize economic and financial markets. This reflects the concept of reciprocity and the idea that if the United States works to ensure the safety of China’s assets and investments in the United States, China will do the same in return. This communication acts as a means of negotiation and will ensure trade relations and interdependence in the future. This joint cooperation over the current global financial crisis seems to be laying the foundation for long-term Chinese-US economic partnership.
