This $15.2 billion dollar deal is a new sign of regained trust and friendship between the two states. The US now maintains warm relations with Israel and this agreement will further unite the two states in their attempts to maintain peace. The establishment of a new radar installation in Israel by the US demonstrates Israel’s growing interdependence with the US for help in terms of defense and trade. Also, the hope is that Israel will install new technology into the fighter planes, which would then be used to trade that technology back with the US. The growing reciprocity has helped the US gain a strong partner in the Middle East and a state in which it can rely on to help negotiate with other states in a region where the US is unpopular. In return, Israel now has a partner in which it can rely on in their negotiations with the Palestinians and other nations which challenge Israel’s legitimacy. Through the action of this trade itself between the US and Israel, the US has demonstrated it sees Israel as a legitimate state as well as all the other participants in the program.
Furthermore, this agreement is only one example of international involvement. The Joint Strike Fighter program involves eight other states spread throughout the globe. The expansion of this program, in effect, links all these states together in a program designed to initiate peace and growth within all participating states. Also, each participating state has developed closer relationships as they all are working together to fund and add input into the program, thus creating more interdependence between themselves.

Also, the hope is that Israel would install their own technology into the fighter planes, which could then be used to trade technology with the US. The more that these two states trade with eachother the greater the reciprocity.
